Aomori Spring Ski Resort sits at the northern edge of Honshu, close to the Sea of Japan. Geography does most of the work here.
When winter systems move across the water and hit the mountains of Aomori Prefecture, snowfall accumulates quickly. Entire weeks can pass where fresh snow arrives almost daily.
This season followed that familiar pattern. Northern Honshu saw consistent snowfall through mid-winter, helping maintain deep coverage across the mountains of Aomori Prefecture.
Conditions remained deep through much of the winter, and the mountain’s northern position helped keep temperatures consistently cold.

What makes Aomori Spring unusual is how quiet it feels. Despite the scale of the terrain and the reliability of the snow, it remains relatively unknown outside Japan.
The resort itself is modern and comfortable, but the wider region still feels remote and distinctly northern.
For travellers willing to venture a little further from the usual ski circuits, it offers one of the most atmospheric winter landscapes in the country.
